What happens when you mix high traffic with single-runway operations under some of Europe’s most frequented airspaces? Well vACC Switzerland and VATSIM UK are keen to find out by pairing two of the most popular single-runway airports on the network, Geneva (LSGG) and London Gatwick (EGKK), for an unforgettable city shuttle on the 25th of November 2022 between 18:00z and 21:00z.

Fly northbound and negotiate some of the busiest airspaces on the network, weaving your way between complex airports to join the line of landing lights on the ILS into a landmark of British civil aviation. Or perhaps fly south over the Jura for a demanding approach surrounded by snow-capped mountains and with the crystal-clear Lake Geneva as the perfect backdrop for your scenic landing. Needless to say, expect a rolling departure and late landing clearance at either end. All along your 386nm hop, enjoy views of iconic scenery and historic cities as our expert controllers navigate you to your destination.

Good morning to all,


With our vACC turning sixteen on the 1st of March and plans for a signature birthday event under way, we have been considering options to help increase the likelihood of comprehensive staffing and avoid exhaustion or saturation of our ATCOs, principles we aim to keep in our general planning efforts.

As such, we have taken the strategic decision to pre-emptively cancel our Geneva One-By-one on the 28th of February in the vein of concentrating staffing efforts and avoiding incomplete or inadequate coverage of the larger event the following evening. The Geneva One-By-One planned for the 28th of March will be maintained, as will the remaining editions prior to the summer break.

Unfortunately, after quite some months of not having to cancel an event due to poor staffing, we are in the regrettable position of reusing the provisions associated with our "Event Staffing Policy". Consequently, owing to poor/inexistant staffing at the APP/CTR levels, we have decided to cancel our Geneva One-By-One on the 31st of October (tomorrow). We will, as a result, try our best to cater to our ATCOs and reevaluate the standing of our events calendar accordingly.

We thank all our members for their understanding and, despite the slightly unfortunate decision, prioritise the quality and sustainability of our events over sheer quantity. We hope to see more engagement in Geneva soon and, until then, will be looking into ways of making this franchise more attractive.
