Tradition continues... 2014 edition of Challenger events (7th year in a row) brings unique challenge to all the participating crews - set the world circumnavigation record online, based on official FAI (Federation Aeronautique Internationale) rules for aviation world records.
Many great aviators and their teams shared the passion to make the fastest lap around the globe. We decided to bring the same excitement and drama to virtual skies.
Pass through 5 host cities (Geneve, Dubai, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Montreal and back to Geneve), plan other stops based on your strategy to meet the 36770 km minimum distance and lead your team through epic trip around the world... or fly solo on your own pace.
Event is open for all categories of airplanes and results are divided in weight categories as per FAI rules (so you can fly all - from Cessna to A380 and set the official world circumnavigation record online in any of the categories).
Start: Geneve 10 January 2014 (start remains open till 17 January)
End: Geneve 22 January 2014 (or as early as you can)
Detailed information about the rules, registration and all what makes Challenger events special can be found on our web page www.fly-sea.com/challenger
Estimated duration for those flying non-stop is around 50 hours, so event is ideal for Vas as they can line up team of pilots and exchange during the ground stops.

It is not all... This year we went a step further and reactivated the Fly-For-Kids programme which already brought to VATSIM one of the biggest charity events ever.
For this occasion, we team up with Thomas Cook Children's Charity Foundation (UK) and JustGiving U.K. to add additional purpose to the event. We hope to attract the partner Vas in the Fly for Kids programme and help to those that need our help the most. Landings on this event are sponsored, direct donations (participants or their sponsors/ "passenger") are also welcome.
