Dear Friends of vACC Switzerland
Another year - plenty of amazing happenings (and few mishaps) has passed.
Highlight was for sure the traditional vACC Weekend, hosted by Thomas von Ah and his company at Dübendorf.
We not only had our traditional VA Meeting there, but also founded our "club" which allows us to step into public as a legal entity.
The other two major RL-Events were our presence at the ILS-Weekend, Hergiswil and at the School of flight, Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, where Jonas and I passed an interesting weekend learning lots about vMil Ops.
I am also happy to see Fridays becoming more staffed, not only because of our two new events, the VFR Tour de Suisse and the Latitudinal Friday. Carry on!
On the other hand, there have certainly been disappointments, too.
The biggest of them is that Nicolas got frustrated over trainings with over-demanding, consum-oriented people.
He finally decided to step down as a mentor for our ATC-TD. A pity! But then, thanks, Nino for your work!
Lucky for us, Michael Kühne and Jonas have agreed to become ATC Trainers, please welcome them!
Please keep in mind that almost all departments are desperately looking for people willing to help.
Programmers, Pilot Trainers, someone who takes the initiative to organize a local meeting, etc etc.
Your idea for an activity is still missing? Let me know!
I'd like to profoundly thank all the people who are doing their work for all of us. Most of it is done by a few, rather silently working persons.
The staff, Jürg Gänsli, Pascal Hasler, Chris Kuhs, Peter Wyss and several others are constantly in the background, most of them since many years, some of them back since ages of Swiss FIR.
Where are we heading to?
Still one of my biggest goals: Trainings, trainings, trainings!
As a part of our controllers tend to disappear after some months, we need to keep up the "new blood" to bring at least a few to approach and radar.
A change of staff is probable in the spring at our annual meeting, this needs taken care of.
Several of our events are in the early state of planning, too.
You see, there's always something in the pipeline - and again: If you can afford to spend a little time for us, let us know!
I can't end without a deep thank you to our controllers and pilots. You are making the community alive and make it fun to sit down at the PC twice a week at least.
Thank you for the good times.
Now, I wish you a very merry Christmas, a happy new year to you and you dearest, good health and good humour!
HP.
