It had been my intention to stay until June 30th and finish out my second term but in recent weeks I have just been totally overcome by real life issues. These issues have helped me to the realization that I need to stop and take care of "Me" now. For the past 9-10 years and 4-5 hours per day, I have spent the majority of my free time working for VATSIM or SATCO in some form or fashion. In those years I have had an education of a lifetime that I could of never had anywhere else. I especially feel blessed that I might have had a hand in helping someone recognize or fulfill a life's dream through VATSIM. There is good in the world and I think VATSIM has harnessed some of it.
There are so many people to thank for helping me through the years. But I would like to single out two in particular. First, George Marinakis, George is the voice of reason in my head at VATSIM. Cool, calm, and collected is what comes to mind when I think of him. Always able to ask the right questions to get the whole picture and then take that information and give good solid advice. I consider George to be one of my best friends. Second, Diane Jenkins, my wife, she has never really understood my fascination with VATSIM and what we do here, but has always supported me in my decisions. She has sacrificed for VATSIM and we all owe her a debt of gratitude. I thank her with all my heart for the support, encouragement, and hand holding when the chips were down. Thank you, Diane.
David Klain, will be acting president until a new one can be selected. Please help him. Be good to each other and know that you all have your special talents and can be so much more when you work together.
