    Default Basels main runway refurbishment in 2026

    EuroAirport’s main runway will be refurbished and temporarily closed from April 15 to May 20, 2026. During this time, flight operations will be handled via the secondary runway.
    Good pilot skills will definitely be needed during this time.

    Früher hatten wir mal Karten zum ILS16 (I mean it!) followed by circle to land 26.

    Hello to the fellow LFSB specialists.
    I am a bit confused about the GRP_LFSB chart. To me all RWYs seem closed. See attached JPG.
    What are the secondary runways, described above?

    Hi Claudio

    I'm not an LFSB specialist, but the secondary Runways are 07 and 25. Runways 15 and 33, as well as Taxiway B, will be closed during the period mentioned.

    On Friday evening, Runway 15/33 or 25 was used, depending on the pilots’ preferences and following coordination between the Approach Control (APP) and the Tower (TWR).

    Generally speaking, we want to work with the real life procedures as often as possible. In this specific case, trying to accomodate VPT A RWY25 whenever possible.

    If for whatever reason a pilot is unable to fly the procedures as IRL, we should nonetheless try to accomodate for a suitable approach as requested by the pilot. Close coordination between APP and TWR shall be made in order to guarantee a safe environment for everyone involved (as also stated above).
