Default Flying REGA operations on Vatsim, allowed or not ? Answer

    Hi everyone !

I noticed some of us don't know what is allowed when flying REGA helicopters on Vatsim, so I will clarify it here.

Regarding VATSIM CoC, section A13, only VSOA organizations can perform Search and Rescue operations (SAR). There is an exception to Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) operations, which can be performed by anyone.

It can be a bit confusing. The difference is that SAR includes search paterns to locate a distressed person in addition to HEMS operations that only includes medical assistance and evacuation to a person that is already located.

In summary, you can only perform REGA medical evacuation of patients which location is known, other missions can only be performed by VSOA organizations.

Be carfull if you are using the "HEMS Random and Anywhere Misson" addon, you cannot perform missions with crashed aircrafts as the first part consists of locating them.

    Hope that clarifies the topic.
