Default [24th May] Staff The Minors - Follow the Rhine

Spring is in full swing, and what better way to enjoy it than by tracing the Rhine across three unique airports? vACC Switzerland is delighted to announce the return of its “Staff the Minors” franchise with a “Follow the Rhine” edition, taking place on Sunday, the 24th of May between 12:00z and 15:00z. Join us for a scenic cross-border event between LFSB, EDNY and LSZR, where IFR and VFR pilots alike can enjoy busy airspace, beautiful views and a route that connects three countries through stunning scenery along the Rhine.

Friedrichshafen - EDNY (Charts & Scenery)
Friedrichshafen may sit outside Switzerland, but it fits perfectly into any “Follow the Rhine” adventure. Nestled on the shores of Lake Constance, this airport combines GA charm with real-world airline operations and a surprisingly capable layout. From pistons to business jets and regional airliners, Friedrichshafen has room for plenty of variety - all with the glistening lake and Alpine horizon as your backdrop.

    Basel-Mulhouse - LFSB (Charts & Scenery)
While Basel is certainly not a hidden grass strip, its character and location make it a perfect fit for this event. Located at the meeting point of three countries and surrounded by the Jura Mountains, Basel offers everything from scenic VFR routes over the Rhine to busy commercial operations. However, due to recent runway refurbishments, it has been challenging to fly larger airliners into the airport. With its intersecting runways and ample surrounding terrain, Basel is sure to keep IFR and VFR pilots of all aircraft types on their toes.

St. Gallen Altenrhein - LSZR (Charts & Scenery)
Just across Lake Constance from Friedrichshafen, Altenrhein offers a very different kind of challenge. With a short runway, interesting VFR & IFR procedures and the Alps rising dramatically to the south, Altenrhein is a rewarding destination for pilots looking to sharpen their skills. Best enjoyed in a GA aircraft or small business jet, Altenrhein combines demanding operations with some of the most picturesque scenery in the region.

Whether you are flying IFR, VFR, across the lake or along the river, we look forward to welcoming you on Sunday, the 24th of May between 12:00z and 15:00z!
