Wichtig Future TeamSpeak and Discord usage

    (english below)

    Future TeamSpeak and Discord usage

As you might have already noticed, some channels on TS and Discord changed.
I would like to inform you about the future usage of these tools within our vACC.

After consideration of your feedback during the last months the staff came to the following decision:

We will utilize both platforms parallel but with defined purpose.

TeamSpeak will only be used as pure coordination tool for ATCOs. This due to its simple nature and good fit for controlling without distraction.

Discord, with its advanced interface and possibilities, serves as social platform to chat, fly together and will be used for trainings (Screensharing option).

The vACC forum will remain the master when it comes to official information and communication. Keep in mind, that when you use the forum to ask/answer questions, others can benefit from your post and hence it serves as knowledge base. I would like to encourage you to use the forum for questions or any other support.

With these changes we aim for optimal use of the tools available and hope you will enjoy and benefit thereof.

    Herzliche Grüsse / Kind regards

Default Gebrauch von Erwähnungen / Usage of mentions

    Liebe Mitglieder

Besten Dank fürs beachten in Zukunft!

    Dear Members

In the last weeks we noticed an increased usage of the functions "mentions" in Discord. We would like to remind you, that this function should be used very sparingly. It's main purpose is for news from the Staff and Departments, the promotion of events through the Admin Department or if you get overloaded with traffic and need ATC Support while online. If there is an issue that needs attention from the staff right now, it's of course an good option to use the mentions. The promotion of your training or ATC Session, coordination of bookings a few day in advance (where a board thread exist) and questions for specific Member(-groups) can also be done without the mentions. Thanks for keep that in mind in the future and have fun on our Discord! If there are questions, feel free to ask us.

    New – User Role
A few days ago we set up the channels #user-roles and #atc-ping on our vACC Switzerland Discord. You will only see #atc-ping if you select the corresponding role in #user-roles by reacting to the message. The goal of the #atc-ping channel is for controllers to recruit additional ATC coverage: it can be used when looking for other controllers if you want to control spontaneously, if you are planning to close the station soon and think someone else might want to take over a pre-heated station, or if (predicted) traffic is beyond your capacity and ATC service would benefit from additional stations. You can either just write a normal message, or you can add a ping to tag the relevant user role (GNDm, GND, TWRm, TWR and so on). Note that the roles with an "m" (e.g., GNDm, TWRm) will ping controllers with approvals for unrestricted airports, whereas those without the "m" (e.g., GND) are used for Tier 1 approvals (LSZH). Please only ping once. The user role tags are no longer available for use in messages in other channels.

    Reminder – Contact Channels
We would like to remind you that our Discord is primarily a social channel to connect with each other and have discussions about aviation and VATSIM, and we encourage you to use Discord for this! Remember that our official communication channels remain the board, the website and our e-mail addresses. Please use those official channels if you want to reach the vACC Switzerland staff. This includes especially questions about your ATC training (atc-td@vacc.ch), your membership or issues with other members (membership@vacc.ch) and issues or bug reports of the sector file and operational documents (operation@vacc.ch or the corresponding board thread). You can find all e-mail addresses on our website. If you are looking for information, please check the board and its subforums first. Thank you kindly

I think this is a great addition and will be helpful to keep the normal channels clutter free, however I would highly suggest renaming the ATC station level roles, since both major and minor start with the letter m, so GNDm is not all that descriptive. I would think that there would be fewer "accidents" if they were named like GND-T1 and GND-unr or something like that.
