Default Replacement of LSGG ILS 22

The ILS infrastructure for Geneva (LSGG) RWY 22 was replaced WEF 2020-08-13, resulting in the use of a new LOC frequency (108.7 MHz). No add-on sceneries have been updated yet. Therefore, the old frequency 109.9 MHz needs still to be used in order to receive an ILS signal.

    Pilots: Use 109.9 MHz, except
    1. your add-on scenery has been updated; or
    2. you use the default scenery or X-Plane and have updated your ILS information database of your simulator (e.g. from https://www.aero.sors.fr) with AIRAC 2009 or later

Consider using a chart service with a merged database from real life and you flight simulator (such as Aivlasoft Electronic Flight Bag v2)

ATC: Advise pilots (via controller information and/or via radio) to verify their ILS frequency and to use 109.9 MHz in case they do not receive a signal

Numerous pilots were unable to fly the ILS yesterday, it would be more than wise to include this information in your controller info or advice the pilots proactively, as go arounds might not be very convenient during an event!

In my last Sessions I stated it in the Controller Info and then most of the pilots had the correct Infos.

@Jonas: Maybe you can edit it the sector File for the next few months so all Controller have always the same Info?

Maybe also adjust the Uniatis to have it in the ATIS if runway 22 is active?

Thanks for the feedback and sorry for that, my bad. Should have put this into the ATIS but had some connection issues anyway and therefore I guess it got lost. Will do next time. Luca's suggestions would be appreciated.

Already scheduled for the next release.

To be honest, I don't know how to correctly adapt UNIATIS in this regard. I never really did touch it, nor fully understand how it works. So I'm a bit afraid I'll break it.

I have no clue either but if it's of any help I'm pretty sure the new AFV system just reads out whatever text is put into the ATIS. Last time I staffed TWR I put a small text by hand referring to the 2 ILS frequencies and it worked fine...

Sure, but this is not the UNIATIS part. It creates the entire text message out of a very few input parameters. And I don't know how to properly handle this.

Ich glaub für den Moment passt es so. Sonst melde ich mich nochmals. Ist ja ein gutes Zeichen, dass ich da bisher noch nichts ändern musste.

I tried the Uniatis several times and it works well and adapts accordingly to the active runway. But I flew yesterday ZHR-GVA and noticed that the frequency information was unfortunately not published within the ATIS, but it seemed to me that it was not published with Uniatis.

That was because Fabian used vATIS which isn't officially supported by the vACC. I recommend to all Controller to use the integrated ATIS in ES, easy to use and always supported and updated by our vACC.

Is the additional information in UNIATIS to use the ILS frequency 109.90 gone lost with the latest update (maybe on purpose)? Whenever I connect the ATIS it is not included, maybe it's just with my ES setup but from as far as I saw yesterday it wasn't neither.

Yes, the broadcasting on ATIS has been deactivated again. Such non-standard information on ATIS is only included for a limited time. Additionally, it may lead to confusion as the issue is not present for users of X-Plane with an updated navaid database. As our charts have been updated, the expectation is that the pilot finds the information there.

There were also confusions from MSFS pilots were they had the updated ILS. Im looking into again finding out how to get navaids updated to the airac over addon scenery.

For P3D based sceneries, you simply can't. You'll require the developer to provide an updated BGL file, or make the changes by yourself a compile the BGL again.

AFAIK you can update the ILS Frequency of the Airport by Importing the Airport's corresponding .bgl into ADE X (or similar). To compile it, though, you have to own the corresponding SDK for the Simulator to Export it to. The SDKs are generally included in the Installer of the Corresponding Sim, but i don't know which P3D-Versions allow for SDKs to be used, if not any.
In FSX/P3D, again, AFAICT (know for sure for FSX), the default NAVAIDS cannot be deleted, only masked. For the exact Process to do this, you can consult the Scenery-Builder's corresponding manual. Thereafter you can add a "custom" NAVAID, which reflects the one you want to have in Sim. In ADE X this Process is pretty straightforward, as soon as you are somewhat used to it.

Since i only own FSX SDK and i do not use FSX anymore, i cannot really help with anything thats P3D related, except for the hint that it's pretty much the same process, just a different SDK to be used for compilation (differences FS9-FSX-P3D are mostly explained in ADE X or self-explanatory).

    Hope this helps..

Actually i just checked this, and the Navigational Data in XPlane is fully delivered by the Default or Custom Data, whichever exists. This is not Scenery-dependent. In fact, scenery developers cannot interfere with the navaids without messing with the NavData-Files.
So the sentence should be "for users of X-Plane with updated Navdata."

P3Dv3 and P3Dv4 were provided wirh SDK, but has to be downloaded separately.

Changing the ILS frequency is pretty simple with Airport Design Editor. (Just set up ADE acc. the provided instructions with ADE.)

"Open airport from BGL" --> search for the BGL and open it --> change it to the correct frequencs --> safe airport project and compile to bgl. --> in normal folder/explorer search for the new bgl and the location of the one provided with the scenery. --> make a back-up of the old--> rename the new bgl with the correct name and place it into the folder where the old one was.

    Done
