    Default Visiting controller/applicants - Gastlotse

    Welcome to Switzerland

Thanks for your interest in controlling at vACC Switzerland. Please send your request to atc-td@vacc.ch after checking the requirements below.

    Endorsements available:

    • unrestricted APP/DEP (APPm) and below
    • Tier 1 APP/DEP ZRH (APP) and below - prerequisite is APPm
    • Enroute familiarisation (CTRm) - topdown LSZH only with Tier 1 endorsement (CTR), prerequisite is APPm, APP highly recommended

Any endorsement therefore starts with APPm; which consists of

    • self study of the SOPs as well as regular observing
    • theory input (vACC Switzerland Orientation) together with simulator lesson on LSGG_APP -> solo approval LSGG_APP
    • OTS LSGG_APP

to ensure you are familiar with our operations and Swiss airspace.

To keep any approvals, a theory exam needs to be passed for each endorsment each six [6] months.

    Requirements

    as per VATSIM TVCP (https://vatsim.net/docs/policy/trans...troller-policy)

    • Your permanent controller rating is S3 or higher and you are current in your home vACC/ARTCC
    • You have completed at least 50 hours on positions that require your current permanent rating in your home allocation
    • You have not been subject to disciplinary actions within the last year
    • English, but no local language is required

    Procedure

    • Send a visiting request on VATEUD Core and write us an email, consisting of the following:
      • Full name
      • Vatsim CID
      • Permanent controller rating
      • Current home division/ARTCC/vACC/FIR
      • The name, job title and e-mail address of one Referee [1] from your home division/ARTCC/vACC/FIR
        • Either the ATC training director or division/ARTCC/vACC/FIR Leader/Director
        • You must have their permission to be used as a referee before submitting your application

      • A short letter of motivation, including
        • Why you want to become a Visiting Controller at vACC Switzerland
        • Which of the above endorsement(s) you would like to do
        • Your experience as a controller
        • Etc.

    • The more active you are, the more likely you are to be prioritised. "First come, first served" applies. Expect waiting times up to a year
    • We try to give all visitors a chance at APPm. In case of failure of the OTS, you can be removed as a visiting controller.
    • APP as well as CTRm (CTR) endorsements are only given to active visitors, having contributed much to our vACC (events, regular staffing, helping out during training sessions, etc)
    • SOPs, LoAs and training documents will be only available once we approve your visiting request

    Activity/Currency Requirements

Minimum requirements to keep your endorsements:

    • 1 hour within three [3] months (rolling) during an event, preferably on the highest endorsed position
    • Tier 1 stations are NOT retained via top-down service

Changes were made to the requirement for visitors, it's now one hour per three month to be spent during an event.
vACC Switzerland thereby gets some additional support during events in return for granting the priviledge of visiting rights.
