Ok so I'm currently installing all my addons into FSX Steam Edition and figure I should show off my new rig.
First off I used alot of the Input I got here and in other Forums and my final build looked like this:
Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUS VII RANGER
Processor: Intel Core i7 4790K
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Black 2x8GB
SSD1: Samsung 850 Pro (256GB, 2.5") - Windows
SSD 2: Samsung 850 Pro (512GB, 2.5") - Sim
HD 3: WD Blue (1000GB, 3.5", Desktop) - Rest
HD 4: WD Green (2000GB, 3.5", Desktop) - Rest
Case Fans: 1x Noctua Nf-a14 Flx (140mm)
PSU: Seasonic X-750 (750W)
GPU: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G (GM204, 4GB)
It all started a while back when I ordered my Case, The Fractal Design R5. I chose it due to its excellent reviews of its "quiteness"
After a few days of Tech geek admiring I went at it with a screwdriver
Then some good ol' wet sanding action
After a light dusting with some leftover Primer I had laying around the first coat of white got a nice little "Stalingrad" German Panzer look to it
Masked up for some dry sanding!
Third coat of white seemed to finally have done the trick (this was about the point where I cursed myself for not being patient enough to wait for the Case in white....)
Now we're about to find out what the hell I'm even trying to achieve with all of this "nifty" handywork. Finally got the correct color spray can, had them custom filled at a paintshop in town
Now for taping off the areas I want to stay my crystal clear white
I think after seeing the tape the next step is obvious: BRING DA ORANGE
Next Step: Tiramisu. Why? Because!
After another coat of Orange, some more time spent eating Tiramisu and letting stuff dry, and then careful removal of tape I ended up with the following which I then treated to 2 coats of lacquer.
Then after a nice little lego session I ended up with my final assembly (of the case that is)
For the front Inlay I layed down a nice matt black to start off with and then brushed on metallic for that aged/used old metal look
Then a quick shot of the actual PC assembly, take home message: Cable management is a pain - but worth it in the end!
Then finally I received my lettering I had ordered. They were applied swiftly
And now I have this beauty sitting on my desk
My first ever PC Build. Was a fun ride! Apart from an issue with my Motherboard and my Saitek X52 Pro it's been all good so far. My venture into FSX Steam Edition has gone well so far, but thats a story for a different thread.
Hope you guys enjoyed and once again thanks so much for your input on my hardware selection!
Hope to be in the skies flying with you by next week.
Cheers
Pascal
