I'm just starting out in VACC but have years of experience with FS offline.
Would someone be kind to guide me through the first steps in the online world?
What to download? What to read first? How to connect?
And especially how not land on anyone already parked in a Gate?
You can answer in German if you wish, I will do the translation.
I'm using ifly737 and have aerosoft LSZH mega airport.

negative, TS3 will not work on our server.
thanks for the update...I've tried already with TS3 and didn't work it..so I thought it was my mistake....well I'm going to install TS2 instead.
Btw I am a newbie at VATSIM and finally I do have plentty of time to get real into it, but as Yves has send me a message that VATSIM germany is now reponsible now also for Switzerland. So please can you give me the link for this forum ?

That is correct. VATSIM Germany provides now the training service for virtual pilots for our vACC.
You find the forum corner of the Pilot Training Department here: http://board.vacc-sag.org/13/. First of all, have a look at the thread "Wichtige Themen des PTD" where you find the most important informations.
If you don't have a VATSIM Germany account already, you will have to register here: http://www.vacc-sag.org/. If you are asked for the RG (Regionalgruppe), choose just "Pilot only". You will then get the access rights for the VATSIM Germany forum, your membership will not be changed.

Hi there
It is not required to have an account on vACC Germany to get access to the Pilot Training System.
If you are a vACC Switzerland registered Pilot thats fine.

But then, you should register there as a Visitor/Pilot.
ok thank you both of you....I've get all info I need to go on with my first training lesson. Just feel kinda weird because I use to fly ever like BOEING 747-400 or now MD-11 / IFly BOEING 737-900ER in IFR Mode and now I have to start my first lesson with a Real Cessna :-)

None at all - you surely aren't alone with the feelings for Swissair. ;)
However it may be helpful to the Controllers if you'd put "C/S=SwissAIR" or such into your Flight plan remarks.
Doesn't guarantee that it works, but may help. :D

because in operation (real and virtual) we use only ICAO abbreviations (3-letter) for the callsign, I strongly recommend you to use SWR. Depending on the controllers knowledge about callsigns and electronical help he won't perhaps know your callsign use SIERRA ROMEO instead (happens not in Switzerland).
For me as a controller, the use of the IATA abbreviation also is a sign for a newbie pilot who didn't get through the basic rules. It doesn't help for your reputation. You can try to get the controllers use SWISSAIR as the callsign when you make the initial call, but I think most of them will use SWISS anyway.

Hello Fellows, just need your help once more.regarding doing the ptf1 test you have told me that vatsim germany is doing these test. so i visit their forum but it seems thei even don't know when next ptd1 will be held. so my question is, is there any other option to complete the test?

thanks for your reply..I just thought because I do have plentty of free time at the moment so I thought I could do the ptd1 test now.As I've said already, even vatsim germany doesen't know when next course will be held. Other suggestion. Is it possible to do it some where else? I mean outside europe?
I hope you understand my rush than I really looking forward to be involved in vatsim switzerland. offline flights are ok, buut with all the years, I am looking get into virtual action.

kleiner Erfahrungsbericht eines Onlinesfluges.
28.11.2013/EDDK-LSZH/Dep 1845UTC
PC1: FSX mit Level-D 767-300ER, 2D-Cockpit und sämtliche Panels offen, 3 grosse Aussensichtbildschirme und SquawkBox.
PC2: Aivlasoft EFB Airac 1213 und Charts als pdf
Flugroute gemäss vatroute mit FL270 mit realer Zeit und FSX-Wetter. Eingabe im FMC und Aivlasoft.
Beim Pushback und Taxi noch kein ATC für EDDK online. Aufgrund des Windes RWY32R mit Kumik6B. Dann kurz vor dem HP im SB sehe ich EDDG_P_CTR online. EFB zeigt noch nichts. EDDK- Airportinfo -> Radar ist zuständig. Dann ATIS abgehört und Glück gehabt. RWY32R active. Nun zeigt auch EFB _CTR online. Aufruf bei Langen Radar für IFR_CLR. Departure etc. kein Problem. Tim Klein sprach zwar ein bisschen zu schnell. Hinweis gemacht.
Dann gecleared für FL270 und ruhiger Cruise. Dann zu unicom geschickt. LSZH_ TWR ( Jan Tschopp) war online. Deshalb ATIS geprüft mit ILS14 Landings.
Descend planning nach SUL via NON-RAV-Transition zu TRA reaching at 5000ft, dann direkt zum ILS14.
Gemäss EFB Arrival at 2047LCL, sprich es reicht theoretisch für 14.
EFB und FMC dementsprechend angepasst und pdf-Charts für Routing und ILS-Frequenzen geprüft.
EFB zeigte kurz vor dem Eindrehen aufs ILS noch kein LSZH_ARR online. Per Zufall sah ich auf dem äussersten rechten Bildschirm ein Contact me von Mauro. Sorry, ich habe es aufgrund des Workflows während dieser ARR-Flugphase zu spät gesehen.
Noch schnell ein Eindreh-Heading und cleared ILS14 erhalten. Konfiguration, Speed etc. passten aufgrund der frühzeitigen Planung.
Dann beim ARR established gemeldet und da kommt schon ein Contact me vom TWR. Da war ich glaub 4 oder 6 NM out.
Aber tiptop stabil.
Landung und Taxi to Gate tiptop.
Es geht super, wenn Controller und Piloten zusammen arbeiten.
Hindernis 1: ATC-Stationen werden leicht verzögert angezeigt
Hindernis 2: Aufgrund der Pflichtausbildung haben die ATCo's bezüglich Voice und Verfahren sicherlich einen Vorsprung.
Hindernis 3: Nicht alle Piloten haben Charts bzw. können diese interpretieren, besitzen nicht das nötige Voice-Level und beherrschen ihr Flugzeug nicht
Hindernis 4: was die Controller überhaupt nicht mögen: nicht einhalten der Initial Climb Altitude (Tip: beim Stationwechsel zu DEP/ARR z.B. Callsign_passing 3500ft for 5000 ft), kein oder falsches Eindrehen nach einem Heading, überschiessen des ILS und sich nach einem contact me nicht melden.
Fazit Piloten : unbedingt Charts lesen und sauberes Readback. Kurze Funksprüche. kein blabla.
Fazit ATC: Je nach Flugphase ist es für einen Piloten sehr stressig alles alleine zu bewältigen. Eher auf langsame und kurze Voice setzen.
Ich zähle mich mit meinen 200 Onlinestunden (je Pilot und Controller) zu den Newbies. Aber wenn beide Partner versuchen sich auf dem gleichen Nenner zu finden, dann gäbe es wohl nicht dauernd die Diskussionen betr. schlechten Piloten.
Auch wenn ich auf dem heutigen Flug einige Überraschungen bezgl. plötzlich aktiver ATCo's erlebt habe, war der Flug wegen der guten Vorbereitung ein sehr guter Flug.

Das Problem ist aus meiner Sicht e chli das Folgende:

Die Ausgangslage ist aber Standard.
Und das ist genau der Moment, wo man den Piloten "abfangen" und betreuen muss.
Sonst beginnt nämlich die Frustspirale zwischen Piloten und Controllern zu drehen, und das schadet beiden.
Nachtrag: Diese Betreuung macht (so habe ich bei einem mal zufälligen Reinhören in eine TS-Session festgestellt) unser PTD ausgezeichnet! Danke dafür!
Ich probiere mich auch als Newbie gut vorzubereiten. Aber wenn man durch diverse Radars durch muss und auch nicht immer so genau weiss wer zuständig ist. Ist dies schon eher schwierig. Zum Beispiel Inbound in die Schweiz z.b. von EHAM ist mir noch nicht ganz klar wann ich mich bei Langen anmelden muss und dann auch bei Swiss Radar oder Arrival wäre mir nicht so klar... Deswegen werde ich ab und zu wen den entsprechenden Stellen noch freundlich errinnert mich anzumelden.. Irgenwann sollte ich dann den Dreh draussen haben mit den Meldepunkten:) Aber eben. Ist halt nicht immer einfach wenn kein durchgehender ATC vorhanden ist. Auch das mit dem Transponder muss ich noch ein wenig lernen... In diesem Sinne bin ich immer dankbar auf aufmerksame Controller.. Denn eben nur so kann man was dazulernen und ich bin immer für Kritik offen wenn Sie berechtigt ist:)

Das ist vielleicht wirklich falsch angekommen. Aber wie HP bereits geschrieben hat, ist dies gar nicht ungewöhnlich. Im VATSIM Forum ist darüber auch kürzlich eine Diskussion entbrannt. Wenn ich als Controller online bin, ist es mir aber einiges lieber, wenn ich dem Piloten ein Contact-Me schicken kann und er meldet sich dann. Quasi ein UNICOM Handoff, dass ich selber anfordere. So kann ich, besonders bei hohem Workload, die Belastung der Frequenz etwas steuern und Initial-Calls dahin timen, wo etwas Zeit ist. Woher soll der Pilot auch wissen, wie weit jetzt genau mein Luftraum geht?Quote:
