Zurich Night (09/06) - Cancelled

Unfortunately, we do not come bearing the best of news: We have to inform you that the upcoming edition of our “Zurich Night”, originally scheduled for tomorrow evening, the 9th of June, has unfortunately been cancelled.
With only three committed stations for APC and ACC combined and two currently booked, the level of staffing required is far from being met. In accordance with our Event Staffing Policy, the decision was made to cancel in order to preserve the quality and integrity of the event. Providing a safe, reliable and sustainable ATC service remains a key priority for our flagship events. Sadly, however, the required staffing level could not be achieved for this particular instance.
We would like to thank you all for your continued interest in our events and hope to be back to more continuity in the near future.

Zurich Night (23/06) - Cancelled
To our pilots and controllers,
We are sorry to inform you that the upcoming edition of our Zurich Night, planned for tomorrow evening, has been cancelled.
With only three stations booked in total across all ATC levels, the staffing required to operate the event properly is unfortunately not met. Proceeding under these circumstances would not allow us to offer the safe, reliable and coordinated ATC service we aim to provide during our events.
In accordance with our Event Staffing Policy, we have therefore decided to cancel this instance. Although this is regrettable, we believe it is the most responsible decision in order to protect the quality and sustainability of the event.

Zurich Night (25/08) - Cancelled
To our pilots and controllers,
Though we were hoping for a strong return, it seems that some of our members are still enjoying their summer breaks or are otherwise unavailable to help us provide a more comprehensive staffing at the APC level for our first event back. Due to an insufficiency of ATCOs and no potential leads on possible short-term availabilities, the Administration Department has had to take the difficult decision to cancel our "Zurich Night" on the 25th of August (tomorrow).
We are aware of the unfortunate nature of this decision and would have liked to return from our break in a more solid form. We however decided that, in order not to overwhelm those who have taken the initiative of booking, and to ensure safety, it was best not to hold an event than to hold a potentially risky and unfavorable one. Nevertheless, the staff is actively monitoring the situation and will soon begin enacting its community engagement measures in early-September. For now, ATCOs who have booked may cancel or, ideally, book a station for this Friday's "Geneva One-By-One" to ensure support for our other key franchises.

Zurich Night (15/09) - Cancelled
To our pilots and controllers,
After a decent start to September, it seems as though we are again in a more challenging staffing situation, reminiscent of our 2023 staffing issues. In addition to the community engagement project, the Administration Department is constantly monitoring cancellation rates and evaluating possible options to help lessen and eventually solve this issue. For the moment however, we will need to cancel our "Zurich Night" on the 15th of September (tomorrow).
The increasing potency of the situation is, of course, not lost on the Department nor the staff as a whole, and your ideas to help us through this tricky episode are more than welcome at either administration(a)vacc.ch or leader(a)vacc.ch. If nothing else, this is an important reminder of the crucial nature of early bookings and advance commitment from those able to provide us with their time. We are however absolutely resolute to helping improve this situation and, in the interim, appreciate your patience, cooperation, and help.

Zurich Night (22/09) - Cancelled
To our pilots and controllers,
As you may have noticed, the confirmed staffing at APP and CTR for tomorrow's event was light. As such, and in the interest of avoiding overloads, we have again taken the difficult decision to cancel our "Zurich Night" on the 22nd of September (tomorrow).
To those who are disappointed, we understand and in many respects agree. Event cancellations and activity concerns are difficult situations to remedy, and the interim between implementing measures and seeing effective improvement can be demotivating. I am however confident that we will recover from this difficult period, not with negativity and blame, but rather with constructive inputs and suggestions. When we say that helpful discussions are welcome at administration(a)vacc.ch or leader(a)vacc.ch, we are as open-minded and welcoming as can be. Should you have ideas, concepts, or well-meaning thoughts to forward, please do not be shy. We are also considering more interactive and flexible ways for ideas to be submitted and the Administration Department is working hard to find solutions in the interim, be this a reduction in frequency, changes to advertising protocol, or event format. Though we avoid hasty and rushed solutions, we recognise the need to act and will do so in the most appropriate fashion possible, and this with the constructive help of the community we rely on and serve.
