2026.09.12 - LSGB Open Doors / Portes Ouvertes LSGB

Dear vACC members,

Just an information about the upcoming open day at the aerodrome of Bex. There will be a bunch of cool flying displays and activities throughout the day.

One of the highlights this year will be a legendary Supermarine Spitfire (Mk. IX MH434, built in 1943), currently based in England, flying in especially for the event. Other notable participants include a rare Bell Cobra AH-1F attack helicopter and the Swiss PC-7 Team again this year.

In the gliding section, there will also be the possibility to take an affordable trial flight in a glider or to discover our VR-based simulator setup. The other groups (powered aviation, parachuting, helicopters and model aircrafts) will most likely also be offering introductory flights and experiences. There will be alse the possibility to visit a photo stand (including sitting in the cockpit of a historic aircraft) and some activities for kids will be available (mini aircrafts on wheels).

This could be an opportunity to combine it with a VATSIM Switzerland meet-up? — especially for our Romands (due to the geographical location), but also for friends from the German-speaking regions and anyone else who feels like making the trip, even from abroad.

I’ll most likely be there helping out, especially with the gliding group, and I’d be very happy to meet any VATSIM delegation if one ends up being organized!

Ce post afin de vous informer des prochaines portes ouvertes de l’aérodrome de Bex.

Un des gros points forts cette année sera la présence d’un mythique Spitfire (Mk. IX MH434, construit en 1943), actuellement basé en Angleterre, qui fera le déplacement spécialement pour l’occasion. Parmi les autres participants, on pourra aussi retrouver un rare hélicoptère d’attaque Bell Cobra AH-1F ainsi que la PC-7 Team.

Dans la section vol à voile, il sera aussi possible de faire, à un prix abordable, un vol d’initiation en planeur ou de découvrir notre simulateur en réalité virtuelle. Les autres groupes (vol moteur, parachutisme, hélicoptères et modélisme) proposeront très probablement eux aussi des vols et initiations. Il y aura aussi la possibilité de se rendre sur le stand photo (avec possibilité de s’asseoir dans le cockpit d’un avion historique) et des activités pour les enfants seront organisées (avions miniatures à roulette).

Cela pourrait être une bonne occasion pour combiner cet evénement avec un meet-up VATSIM Suisse — surtout pour les Romands (dû à la proximité géographique), mais aussi pour les amis de Suisse alémanique et toute personne motivée à faire le déplacement, même de l'étranger.

Je serai très probablement sur place pour aider, notamment dans le groupe de vol à voile, et cela me ferait plaisir de rencontrer une éventuelle délégation VATSIM si jamais elle se forme !
