Information for ATC

Dear Staff

As I learned today, it was pointed out in Discord on December 17 that the TS was not working and that we should use the ATC channel in Discord .

Had this also been posted in the vACC forum, I could have taken care of it in time to make Discord work for me for my shift in Basel on December 18.

However, as it was, 15 minutes before my shift on LFSB_GND, I found that it was not possible for me to coordinate with my colleagues in Basel because no channel outside of ES was available to me.

In the future, please make sure that all necessary information for us controllers is posted on all available channels. Thank you!

We offer various options for coordinations. Discord works as a fallback for TS, and a corresponding message is provided automatically in Discord. Don't hesitate to approach other controllers in Discord, especially if there is an issue on short-notice. Discord is much more convenient for temporary and short-period information. Whether an automated message in the forum is possible needs to be answered by the Tech Department. However, I highly encourage you to ask for help in Discord in similar situations.

There are additional methods for coordination like VCCS and even private messages in VATSIM. So, even though TS is our main coordination tool, there is a variety of alternative options which you can use in case TS is not operational or if other controllers are not available in TS (such as the french colleagues when controlling in LFSB). The unavailability of TS does not prevent you to have an online controlling session.
