LSZH Transitions RWY28/34

Dear all

with the latest chart release for LSZH also RNAV transitions for RWY 28 and 34 are now available. Check the charts on our homepage.

Need to know
There are two ways how to clear an aircraft into the transition:

1. Cleared XXX transition
Authorization to fly the lateral RNAV 1 route.

2. Cleared direct waypoint XXX
Authorization to fly from the present position direct to a waypoint and to join thereafter the appropriate RNAV 1 route.

Level assignments will always be issued by ATC!

Some examples

Initial CLR for arriving traffic transferred on STAR
CLEARED (transition, e.g. RILAX 28) TRANSITION
CLEARED (transition, e.g. RILAX 28) TRANSITION, EXPECT (type of approach) APPROACH [RUNWAY (runway number)]

In case of a short cut direct to a point located on the transition, from the IAF
AFTER (waypoint, e.g. RILAX) [PROCEED] DIRECT TO (waypoint, e.g. ZULU HOTEL (number) JOIN [INTERCEPT] (transition, e.g. RILAX 28) TRANSITION, EXPECT (type of approach) APPROACH [RUNWAY (runway number)].

From present position
PROCEED DIRECT TO (waypoint, e.g. ZULU HOTEL (number)), JOIN [INTERCEPT] (transition, e.g. RILAX 28) TRANSITION EXPECT (type of approach) APPROACH [RUNWAY (runway number)].

From present position followed by another short-cut within the transition
PROCEED DIRECT TO (waypoint, e.g. ZULU HOTEL (number)), (waypoint, e.g. ZULU HOTEL (number)) NEXT, JOIN [INTERCEPT] (transition, e.g. RILAX 28) TRANSITION EXPECT (type of approach) APPROACH [RUNWAY (runway number)].

Aircraft being vectored away from the transition for sequencing or separation
TURN LEFT [FLY] HEADING (degrees), RADAR VECTORING FOR (reason), EXPECT TO REJOIN (transition, e.g. RILAX 28) TRANSITION.
Note: The indication of the waypoint to be prepared for is used to give an indication to the flight crew, that as soon as radar vectoring becomes unnecessary, the ATCO intends to give a clearance back to the transition route, preventing the pilot from erasing the Transition Route from the FMS.
TURN LEFT DIRECT TO (waypoint, e.g. ZULU HOTEL (number)), [CLEARED] TO REJOIN [INTERCEPT] (transition, e.g. RILAX 28) TRANSITION.

General indication of RNAV 1 transition route capability
UNABLE RNAV TRANSITION.
CONFIRM ABLE RNAV TRANSITION.

Note: The flight crew of a non RNAV 1 equipped aircraft will advise ATC accordingly: "UNABLE RNAV TRANSITION".
